There is nothing more frustrating than arriving at the trailer park and realizing you forgot the ball, or having to fumble with a wrench in the dirt just to mount it. The TOW&HITCH Trailer Ball Mount ships with the chrome ball already installed on the shank — slide it into your receiver, drop in the hitch pin, and you are ready to tow.

The shank is cut from solid steel and finished in a tough black powder coat that stays looking new season after season. Unlike painted or bare zinc hitches that rust at the weld line, the sealed powder coat protects every surface — even the underside, where road salt and mud collect.

The mirror-chrome ball is the contact point with your trailer coupler. A rough or pitted ball makes hitching difficult and creates uneven wear on the coupler liner; our polished ball releases smoothly every time and wipes clean with a single rag. The hex nut and washer under the mount lock the ball firmly so it cannot spin or work loose on the highway.

Three pin holes give you flexibility: run the shank deep for a tight, short overhang on a wide pickup, or leave it extended to clear a spare tire, bumper-mounted bike rack or tray. One mount, multiple setups, zero extra parts.

Q1. Is the trailer ball already installed?

Yes. The chrome ball is pre-mounted on the shank and locked with the hex nut and washer under the mount. You do not need any tools to assemble the ball itself.

Q2. What size ball is this?

The ball diameter and thread size are listed in the Specifications table. Match the ball diameter to your trailer coupler: common sizes are 1-7/8", 2" and 2-5/16". If your coupler does not match, do not force it — choose a different ball mount.

Q3. Will it fit my truck / SUV?

This mount uses a standard 2-inch square shank and fits any vehicle with a matching Class 3, 4 or 5 rear receiver. Please measure the inside opening of your receiver before ordering.

Q4. Why are there three holes on the shank?

The three pin holes let you choose how far the mount extends from your bumper. A shorter insertion reduces overhang and improves handling; a longer insertion clears a rear-mounted spare tire, bike rack or cargo tray. Pick the hole that gives a tight, level tow.

Q5. What is the towing capacity?

The rated Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) and Tongue Weight (TW) are listed in the Specifications table. Always tow within the LOWER of: (a) this ball mount rating, (b) your vehicle receiver rating, and (c) your vehicle manufacturer's towing rating.

Q6. Does it come with a hitch pin?

Please check the 'What's in the Box' section — this is marked [TO BE FILLED] until confirmed by the factory. If a pin is not included, any standard 5/8" hitch pin with R-clip fits the holes.

Q7. How do I keep the ball from rusting?

The ball is chrome-plated and naturally rust-resistant. After towing on salted roads or in wet weather, wipe the ball with a dry rag and apply a thin film of grease to prevent moisture trapping between the ball and the coupler.

Q8. Can I mount a sway control or weight-distribution hitch?

The underside mounting point is designed for adding accessories such as sway-control tabs or anti-rattle devices. For full weight-distribution systems, confirm compatibility with the weight-distribution manufacturer before installation.

Before every trip: check the ball nut is tight, the hitch pin and R-clip are seated, safety chains are crossed and connected, and trailer lights work. After the first 100 miles (160 km), re-torque the ball nut and re-check at every long-trip stop.
