Getting stuck is part of off-roading. What is not part of the trip is arriving at the recovery site and realizing you have nowhere solid to hook a strap. The TOW&HITCH Receiver Shackle Mount turns your standard 2-inch rear receiver into a proper, rated off-road recovery point — slide it in, drop the pin, and clip on the included D-ring shackle.
Unlike a bumper tie-down loop or a welded tow hook that you cannot remove, this shackle block bolts directly into your existing receiver. Leave it on for weekend trails, pull it out for daily driving. The matte black block stays discreet; the bright red shackle is instantly visible when a fellow off-roader pulls up to help.
The included D-ring shackle is powder-coated red, not painted — the finish will not chip off after the first strap attach/detach. The threaded pin runs freely and locks with the cross-hole clip, so you do not spend recovery time fighting a seized bolt. The black isolator washer between the shackle and the mount ear kills the annoying rattle you get with bare steel-on-steel shackle mounts.
Built from thick steel rather than thin stamped plate, the block absorbs snatch-load shocks without flexing. It is engineered for recovery and pull-point duty — not for ball-mount towing, not for lifting, and not as a daily trailer hitch. Use it for what it is built for, and it will be the most useful accessory in your truck bed.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Q1. What is this product used for?
This is an off-road recovery point. It turns your 2-inch rear receiver into a solid anchor for a tow strap, snatch strap, recovery rope or winch extension. It is used to pull stuck vehicles out of mud, sand, snow and ditches, or to recover another vehicle on the trail.
Q2. Can I use this to tow a trailer?
No. This is a recovery shackle mount, not a trailer hitch. Do not attach a trailer coupler, ball mount or safety chains to this product. It is designed for pull-point and recovery-strap duty only.
Q3. Will it fit my truck / Jeep / SUV?
It fits any vehicle with a standard 2-inch square rear receiver (Class 3, 4 or 5). Please measure the inside opening of your receiver before ordering.
Q4. What is the difference between MBS and WLL?
MBS (Minimum Breaking Strength) is the load at which the component is tested to break. WLL (Working Load Limit) is the safe working load with a safety factor. Always size your straps, ropes and shackles so that the expected recovery load stays well below the WLL.
Q5. Do I need to buy a separate shackle?
No. The red D-ring shackle is included and already assembled on the mount ear with the isolator washer. You only need a receiver hitch pin to lock the block into your vehicle.
Q6. What size receiver pin does it use?
The pin hole diameter is listed in the Specifications table. Most 2-inch receiver blocks accept a standard 5/8-inch hitch pin with R-clip — confirm the exact size before ordering.
Q7. Can I mount it in the front receiver too?
Yes. If your vehicle has a front 2-inch receiver, this mount works there as well, giving you a front recovery point for winching or pulling. Always confirm the front receiver's own rated capacity.
Q8. Is the red coating durable?
The shackle is finished in powder coat, not paint, which is much more chip- and scratch-resistant. After each recovery trip, wipe the shackle clean and touch up any scratches that expose bare metal to prevent rust.
Q9. What safety gear should I use with it?
Always use a rated recovery strap or snatch strap (never a chain or cable for dynamic pulls), stand clear of the load path, keep bystanders back, and use a damper / blanket over the strap in case it snaps. Never attach a recovery strap to an unrated point.

DISCLAIMER & SAFETY WARNING
PLEASE READ BEFORE USE — RECOVERY COMPONENTS ARE HIGH-RISK.
This product is a RECOVERY SHACKLE MOUNT, not a trailer hitch. Never use it to tow a trailer, mount a ball, carry cargo, or attach safety chains. Misuse can cause catastrophic failure.
Never exceed the Working Load Limit (WLL) of the shackle, the mount block, the receiver tube, the strap/rope, or the vehicle's rated recovery capacity — always respect the LOWEST of these.
Dynamic snatch loads can multiply several times the vehicle's weight. Only use rated recovery straps or snatch ropes designed for dynamic pulls. Never use chains, steel cables or non-rated straps for recovery.
Always stand well clear of the load path during a recovery. Keep all bystanders at least 1.5× the strap length away. Place a damper, jacket or blanket over the strap to arrest it if it snaps.
Before every use, inspect the shackle pin threads, the isolator washer, the receiver pin and R-clip, and the mount for cracks, bends, cracks around the weld or excessive wear. Do not use a damaged unit.
Tighten the shackle pin finger-tight, then back it off 1/4 turn to allow free rotation, and secure it with the cross-hole clip. Never recover with a loose or missing pin.
This product is not a lifting point. Never use it to lift people, vehicles, loads or equipment with a crane, hoist or jack.
